Since 2016, EASA has required design organizations to address the subject of operational suitability data as part of the classification of changes and the design investigation process.
What is Operational Suitability Data?
Operational Suitability Data (OSD) covers information produced as part of the type design relating to training and qualification of staff as well as a compilation of the MMEL.
The objective of OSD is to ensure that all information required by the crew to operate an aircraft is complete and covers all required aspects of the role. OSD currently covers the following areas:
- CS MMEL Master Minimum Equipment List - CS FCD Flight crew data - CS CCD Cabin crew data - CS SIMD Simulators
This course delivers a practical pathway to understanding and working with OSD within your Part 21 organisation. During the course, we will consider the challenges and issues that need to be overcome and successfully addressed.
| WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF THIS TRAINING - WHAT WILL I LEARN? |
Delegates will achieve a detailed understanding of the following requirements:
- EASA Part 21, ‘initial airworthiness’ requirements provide a framework for the definition of organizations involved in the design, modification, and repair of all aircraft types.
- Part of the requirements in Part 21 is to ensure that training/operating data are of an appropriate and consistent standard and appropriate to the product they relate to.
- The course provides an overview of OSD elements and will allow the candidate to understand how to classify changes to type design and OSD and produce documentation covering all OSD elements.
1. Definitions & Abbreviations 2. Introduction & Regulatory Drivers for OSD 3. EASA Part 21 - OSD Relationship 4. The Management of Operational Suitability Data (OSD) 5. OSD Application 6. Classification of Changes 7. OSD - Flight Crew Data 8. OSD - CS MMEL Master Minimum Equipment List 9. OSD - CS CCD Cabin Crew Data 10. OSD - CS SIMD Simulators Source Data 11. OSD - CS-MCS Maintenance Data
- Understand the reason behind the OSD concept
- Understand the classification process
- Understand the different aspects of OSD and how they are applicable
| TARGET GROUPS & PRE-REQUISITES |
It is for persons who are actively involved in the Part 21 Design Organizations, including Accountable Managers, Compliance Verification Engineers, and Design Engineers; it is also useful for the Independent System Monitoring Staff and general management. The course is appropriate for all DOAs, whether or not you have type design or STCs in your scope.
Although no prior knowledge is required a simple understanding of Part 21 is useful.
