Introduction

We should always strive to recognize the importance of both training and the development of competence throughout our organisation as a key ingredient to the ensuring a successful aviation operation.

Training plays a key role to ensure we can meet the goals and aspirations of our organization, training is also able to support positive change in knowledge, skills and attitude, to deliver the skilled manpower which is essential to manage the oversight and ongoing development of our business.

Without a consistent training program organizations will undoubtedly face a loss of competitiveness, even the danger of ultimate extinction.

Mandatory/Vocational?

Within our aviation environment a certain amount of training may be considered as an obligation to meet for example regulatory requirements delivered as initial or recurrent training – Whilst mandatory training is a requirement it is but a small part of the overall training that is available.

Vocational Training can provide the employee with the opportunity to improve performance and is shown to have a direct connection with motivation. The individual performance of employees together with their personal development in particular through training become major factors in supporting the development of long-term profitability.

A Culture of Training?

In an ideal scenario, training should become part of the corporate culture. When employees feel they are fully supported by their management they are motivated to provide both attention and commitment to the task of learning.

Successfully tied to the strategy of business development training can influence the organisations “bottom line” in a positive way and of course employees want their organization to do well.

E-Learning Goes Mainstream!

Prior to the pandemic, e-learning was considered something of a new trend with slowly growing interest. As we move into 2022 it has clearly become part of the mainstream learning activities thanks to a continuing adoption by aviation organisations across multiple domains.

Is the Cost a Barrier to Aviation Competence Building Training?

Of course and to deny otherwise is missing the point – The training budget is not only the hardest to justify typically it is the first area to be cut in any retrenchments.

In fact, this was the primary reason for Sofema Online (SAS) www.sofemaonline.com to introduce the Corporate Freedom Pass (CFP) designed to provide organisations with unlimited access to Sofema Online training through a number of online accounts providing the organisation with a flexible training option.
